Tourism in the Barossa Valley...

The Barossa Valley has so much to offer.  Whether it is a relaxing wine tasting experience, adventurous outdoor pursuits, an entertaining concert, or some much needed rest and relaxation that you are looking for, the Barossa Valley caters for every interest and every desire.

Whether you spend a day, a weekend, a week, or longer in the Barossa Valley, you will quickly come to realise its rich heritage, warm and friendly people, interesting culture, and most of all, its great love of fresh tasty food and superb fine wines.  The Barossa Valley cannot be spoken of without mentioning the amazing wines that this region produces.  Year after year the Barossa Valley attracts tourists from the world over, and it is usually the more than 50 cellar doors that are scattered throughout the region that attract these people to the area.  And once you have been here, you will wish to come back year after year.

For some it is the many vibrant and exciting festivals, concerts and events that first draw them to the Barossa Valley , for others it is the outdoor activities that include hiking, golfing, cycling and hot air ballooning, yet for others it is the chance to have a relaxing and peaceful break away from the stresses of work and day to day life, and for most it is the drawcard of the wineries.

Some cellar doors have restaurants, some allow you to take a tour of the vineyard, some allow you to experience a wine tasting session with the winemakers themselves.  No matter what your idea of a perfect cellar door experience, you can be assured that you will taste some great wines, meet some great locals, learn all about what goes into producing a quality wine, and you will have the time of your life doing all this.

Some of the more popular tourist attractions include touring around the Barossa Valley.  Being one of the most scenic destinations in South Australia, you can easily tour the region, which is approximately 30km by 40km in size.  Whether you choose to drive yourself, or elect to take a guided tour from one or more of the 20 or so different tour operators who offer half, full or multi-day tours, you will find your way around easily and have a great time.  There are also some other interesting ways you can choose to see the Barossa Valley which is by hot air balloon, by helicopter, or by trike tour.

The Barossa Valley is surrounded by wonderful nature reserves.  If you like to get outdoors and do some hiking there are a number of tracks in the area.  The Kaiser Stuhl Conservation Park, the Para Wirra Recreational Park, and the Sandy Creek Conservation Park all offer some great walking tracks where you will see local wildlife, great views and a diverse selection of flora and fauna.  The Heysen Trail, Mawson Trail, and Kidman Trail also offer great bushwalking tracks.

Cycling through the Barossa Valley is very popular.  With the Tour Down Under gaining in reputation each year as a major international drawcard on the annual events calendar of the region, the landscaped scenic rolling hills, and great weather conditions make cycling a great opportunity, no matter whether you are a keen cyclist, or wanting a relaxing cycling holiday for the whole family.

As you can see there are many attractions the Barossa Valley has to offer everyone, and we have only covered a few here.
